How does solar power work?
Solar panels absorb light from the sun and converts the energy into DC electricity. When your panels are installed on your roof, a power inverter will also be installed. The inverter converts the DC electricity to AC
electricity, which can then be used in your home.
Grid-tied Solar Power
If your solar panel system is ‘grid-tied’, any excess power you produce that
is not being used by your home is sold back to the grid.
At night, when your solar panels are not generating any power, your home will draw energy from the grid.
Store Solar Power
If you would like to store energy generated by the solar panels to use
at night, you can install batteries. Battery technology is improving every
day, and it could be more affordable than you think.
Why switch to solar?
Renewable Energy
Solar energy is a clean, green source of energy. Solar power doesn’t release
any greenhouse gasses, and is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint.
Solar power is self-sufficient and installing solar panels on your roof is a
safe and easy path to contribute to a sustainable future.
Save Money
With prices coming down steadily over the years, your system will pay itself
back and more over the lifetime of the system. You won’t be buying as
much electricity from the grid, and you will also be selling back, which will
reduce your bills even further.
Independence
Solar power reduces your reliance on the grid and your energy provider. It
also protects you from rising power prices and any energy market
volatility.
